Mark Cartledge: Charismatic Glossolalia

Charismatic Glossolalia is a fascinating look into the experiential side of charismatic theology. As a Pentecostal, I found myself able to relate to those who participated in the survey, especially as Cartledge shared personal information and actual quotations from interviews. However, there are some parts of the book that I would describe as “technical reading”—specifically chapter two, which describes the empirical approach to theology; and the first half of chapter five, which uses sociological and statistic formulae to analyze the results of the surveys.

All in all, Cartledge’s Charismatic Glossolalia is a welcome addition to Pentecostal/charismatic theological studies. I would recommend it to those interested in the connection between theology and practical living.
