Local Church Missions for the New Millennium

Zacharias Fomum has set an example of fasting and prayer in his fellowship of over 180 house churches that he oversees in the West African nation of Cameroon. Although by occupation he teaches organic chemistry to graduate students at the University of Yaound, his true calling is prayer with fasting. He and his family have gone on extended fasts to pray for the salvation of the lost. His challenge to the Western church is lovingly presented in this article. C. Peter Wagner believes Fomum to be one of the world’s greatest authorities on spiritual warfare. This article briefly describes the battle won in the city of Yaound where Fomum’s church, Christian Missionary Fellowship, is based. What took place in Yaound, and now spreading throughout the world, is nothing less than the hand of God.

The Great Commission is an emphatic call that all disciples of Jesus need to be about fulfilling. As Pastor Ted Haggard says, our focus needs to be upward and outward. May articles such as this one continue to challenge believers to seek God in prayer to see their community and world come to know His great love.
