What God is doing in the world today? Pastor John Lathrop tells us about a move of the Holy Spirit in Southeast Asia.

A significant Christian conference was held in Indonesia between July 4th and July 6th, it was called the Kingdom Family Conference. My wife and I had the honor of being present for this gathering. The conference was not put on by a Christian school or denomination. It was birthed out of a movement that began ten years ago called Fire Generation. This movement began as a youth ministry in a local church, grew to become an interdenominational youth movement, and is now an apostolic movement to build up the Body of Christ in Indonesia. And let me assure you the people in this movement are on fire! The spiritual atmosphere in the meetings was highly charged. No speakers are announced in advance, in fact, no big name speakers ministered at the conference. This is a grass roots movement.

One of the leaders, told me that seven hundred people registered for the conference but that they estimate that 1,400 people attended the evening revival services. The theme of the conference was “Time of Fulfillment.” The majority of the people at the conference were Indonesians but there were also people there from Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, Nagaland, India, and the United States. Fire Generation has grown from its early days. It has reached out and established relationships with other nations. In one of the services I was called on to pray for Indonesia as a representative of the United States. Some things in the services had to be translated for the English speakers who attended the services.

The conference consisted of seven services, one on Wednesday night, three on Thursday, and three on Friday, each service was three hours long! Prayer, worship, and ministry were the dominant features of most of the meetings. There were only two services that had a significant amount of preaching. The services were characterized by great joy, including dancing, as well as weeping, and indeed in some cases, wailing. Spiritual intensity marked the services. In a day when it seems like many young people in the West are indifferent or cold about spiritual things it was refreshing to see the spiritual zeal of these young people. They are zealous in worship, prayer, and service. They are also very open to the ministry of the Holy Spirit. Dreams and visions are welcomed in this ministry. The people in attendance love God and they love Indonesia. They are also willing to invest their lives in helping to bring improvement to their country through Christian witness and service. Their eyes are also focused on other nations as well. There is no way to describe the power and impact of these services, you would have to be there to understand. I have never seen anything like it in my life.

Thank you for praying for Joe Joslin and his family. His wife, Kim, their twin daughters Emma and Elyse, along with Kim’s mother and Aunt were in a terrible accident a little before 4pm on Friday, June 24. Joe has been a contributing editor to PneumaReview.com since its inception.

Joe wrote on his Facebook page early morning on June 25, about 12 hours after the accident:

Updates as far as I know them:
1. Kim has been discharged as of 3:30am. She left with Erin Mock who will stay the night with her. Kim is still dizzy, weak and vomiting occasionally. She is black and blue and purple from head to toe but is doing the best of the bunch.
2. Emma had her head sewn up by a wonderful plastic surgeon. She also has a broken rib(s) but they are not serious. She has been generally alert and chatty but also has bouts of concussion symptoms. Headache, nausea, blurred vision, etc. She was admitted to the Children’s Hospital. She struggles when she tries to tell about what she saw. She was very traumatized by it all but is trying to put on a brave face. She finally got to see mom an hour ago. Grandparents are sleeping in her room tonight.
3. Elyse was unconscious at the scene and for a lot of the Aeromed flight, coming to occasionally but very out of it. She has gotten steadily better since arriving. She has a couple of non displaced fractures of her pelvis but should be able to get up and around soon with few limitations. She’s been admitted to the Children’s Hospital just a few rooms down from Emma. I’m staying with her tonight.
4. Kim’s mom and Aunt were seriously hurt as well, especially the Aunt. I don’t have any updates so I will have to leave that to others. They are alive and expected to recover.
5. There’s no way I can ever thank you all enough for your concern, prayers, offers of help. It’s truly amazing and we will never forget it. We have a long road ahead of us, but I can rest in the fact that no matter what comes I have another day to cherish my wife and kids and kiss their beautiful heads. Yesterday afternoon I stared at the gut wrenchingly real possibility that I had lost all of that in the blink of an eye.

The PneumaReview.com editorial committee would like to express our deepest condolences to Jeff Grenell and his family on the passing of his wife, Jane.

Jaren Grenell, son of Jeff and Jane Grenell, wrote this tribute on December 18:

After a 16 month fight with cancer, early this morning our mom Jane has won. She has fulfilled her purpose here on earth. In her last days she never lost her spirit, she never lost her personality, she never lost her ministry. We know that God is the giver and taker of life. Each of us has a purpose, and when we have fulfilled that purpose, we win.
Our family was together with her in Hospice Care the past 3 weeks and we are walking through this with an everlasting hope in Jesus. Although this has been incredibly difficult, we have many reasons to celebrate knowing that mom received her ultimate healing in Heaven.

Our mom has left us with a great legacy. Her life here was spent fully committed to the Kingdom of God and her family and friends. She ran the race well. Because of her selfless love, passion for people, and discipline in following Jesus, many lives have been impacted.

Her grace and beauty in the face of sickness has taught us in endless ways. She was a fighter through every trial.

We want to say thank you. We are so grateful for the people around us. Thanks for traveling this journey the last 16 months with us. The prayers and encouragement have been felt. Remember, never do hardship alone.

We encourage each of you to take hold of every moment. Every second of your life has meaning. Love well. Live with a purposeful heart. And treat every moment as a chance to impact this world for Christ. That’s what our mom did. And that is what we will continue to do as a family.

Details about the Celebration Service and addresses for sending condolences are available by writing to Editor.

When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior (Isaiah 43:2-3)
