Veli-Matti Karkkainen: Pneumatology

In his wonderful and edifying epilogue, Kärkkäinen points out that one of the benefits of studying historical perspectives on a biblical topic is that it helps to remind us of the fact that “the place we are now has grown out of two millennia of Christian reflection, based on the heritage of Israel’s long tradition” (p. 176). In addition, when it comes to pneumatology specifically, it is important to remember that we would not even be able to study the doctrine of the Holy Spirit if that same Spirit did not give us the ability, the means, and the desire to learn about him (p. 175)!
