The Gift of Tongues Examined by Dr. Ricky Roberts may be helpful reading along with another, fuller work (e.g., Initial Evidence: Historical and Biblical Perspectives on the Pentecostal Doctrine of Spirit Baptism (ed. Gary B. McGee, Peabody: Hendrickson, 1991). I would warn against relying on it alone. I do not think it will convince gainsayers; but it may comfort the convinced. Nevertheless, the exegesis alone is a worthwhile demonstration of the biblical basis of an enduring doctrine and practice of speaking in other tongues inspired of the Holy Spirit.
