David Augsburger: Dissident Discipleship

Augsburger includes a detailed apologetical discussion of “resolute nonviolence” as well as several other distinctives of Anabaptist spirituality. The weakness in his discussion of nonviolence and, overall, of Anabaptist spirituality, is in omitting a substantive discussion of those views opposite to his apology. This omission results in a lack of critical reflection and assessment that would allow his work to compare and contrast the Anabaptist tradition’s theology and practice with other Christian traditions.
